Obsessive compulsive disorder in children and adolescents

Welcome to
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in children and adolescents website

Welcome to our website, which contains information about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in children and adolescents.

In OCD people are troubled by intrusive thoughts, images, impusles or doubts. Usually these are also accompanied by compulsions where the person has to either do or think something to make themselves feel better or to prevent bad things from happening.

Whether you are a young person suffering with OCD, look after a child who does, or you work in this field, we hope the information on our website will be helpful. Please click on one of the links below to find out more about OCD in children and adolescents and how it can be treated.

Current treatment trial run by Maudsley Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service

Our colleagues in the Maudsley Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service are conducting a treatment trial for the treatment of childhood OCD. We are happy to direct people to this trial which is being overseen by Dr. Cynthia Turner and Dr. Isobel Heyman. This is an important piece of work which is likely to help participants and we encourage people to give it consideration.

This study has been reviewed and approvied by the South London and Maudsley ethics committee. (Reference number: 08/H0807/12)
